Templegate Cheltenham Festival Tips On Thursday 16th March 2023

This Joseph O’Brien runner was last seen running second to El Fabiolo in the Irish Arkle and that form has been franked since. The winner bolted up in the Arkle at the Festival on Tuesday and Templegate feels the horse can improve for the longer trip. He’s also a course winner at Cheltenham (2-from-2) here and landed the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ race at the Festival last year.

Winning machine that has landed 8 of his 11 career runs over hurdles. Another win last time out at Gowran Park in the G2 Galmoy Hurdle was a top effort again. Teahupoo was down the field in the Champion Hurdle last year but has shown better form over longer this season and is the top-rated in the field. Can give trainer Gordon Elliott his first win in this race.

This race often goes to the best amateur jockeys riding in the race and one of those is Barry O’Neill. He rides the Gavin Cromwell-trained Stumptown. This 6 year-old is a fast-improving staying chaser that has won his last two in great fashion. The last of those was a 7-length win at Sandown last month and despite being hiked up 10lbs for that looks a horse with a lot more to come.
