Spurs have a 100% better win rate without manager Antonio Conte in the dugout with assistant Cristian Stellini picking up four wins from four.

At the beginning of February, Conte had surgery to remove his gallbladder after being taken to hospital with ‘severe abdominal pain,’ later diagnosed as cholecystitis and required an operation.

Cristian Stellini took charge and has overseen four straight victories without his colleague:

  • Marseille 1-2 Spurs (Lenglet, Hojbjerg) November 1st
  • Spurs 1-0 Man City (Kane) February 5th
  • Spurs 2-0 West Ham (Emerson, Son) February 19th
  • Spurs 2-0 Chelsea (Skipp, Kane) February 26th

Tottenham sit fourth in the table after 25 games played and are 5/4 to finish in the top four according to Premier League betting sites.

The first victory in November came as Stellini took charge of Spurs in a crucial Champions League clash due to Antonio Conte’s straight red card in a 1-1 draw with Sporting Lisbon a week prior.

Spurs topped Group D ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt and Sporting to set up a round of 16 clash with AC Milan, where they face a 1-0 deficit heading into next Wednesday’s second leg in north London.

Stellini will also take charge of Wednesday’s FA Cup tie against Sheffield United but it is expected that Antonio Conte will return for Saturday’s clash in Wolverhampton.

Premier League to nominate Antonio Conte, not Cristian Stellini for February Manager of the Month Award

Regardless of Antonio Conte managing just one Premier League game in February – an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Leicester City – it has been reported that Conte will earn a nomination for the award despite Stellini fronting all victories.

Conte has ‘remained in constant contact with Stellini’ despite his in-person absence and ‘maintained a leading say in picking the team and even making in-game decisions’.

The former Chelsea manager has a 56% win percentage as Spurs boss, taking victory in 40 of 71 games with ten draws and 21 defeats.
