Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of making the top four and playing in next season’s Champions League have been handed a significant boost following Saturday’s 2-1 win against Brighton.
The victory leaves Spurs fifth in the Premier League table after 30 games played, six points clear of Aston Villa in sixth and seven clear of Brighton in seventh who have two games in hand.
Heung-min Son opened the scoring for the hosts after ten minutes before Lewis Dunk replied in the 34th minute and the visitors thought they had the lead through Danny Welbeck shortly after the restart, only for VAR to chalk it off.
Harry Kane bagged the winner with ten minutes to play, his 23rd goal of the season, leaving him five adrift Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.
Both managers Cristian Stellini and Roberto De Zerbi saw red shortly after the hour mark after failing to control their respective benches during a heated row at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
According to Premier League betting sites, Spurs have an implied probability of 25% to finish in the top four compared to Manchester United at 88% and Newcastle at 80%.

Spurs face a tough run-in to close out the season with clashes against Newcastle, Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa on the horizon and despite slim hopes of Champions League football next season, some do remain.
Barring a complete disaster, European football will return to north London but is likely to be in the form of the Europa League which Spurs last competed in three years ago.
Following the sacking of Antonio Conte at the end of March, former Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is the favourite to take charge at Spurs, alongside Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann and Graham Potter as the betting leaders.
