Key Findings From SportsLens Supercomputer Premier League Prediction

  • Man City win fourth title in a row
  • Sheffield United, Fulham and Nottingham Forest get relegated
  • Burnley and Luton Town both have solid season
  • Liverpool back in top four
  • Brighton and Newcastle have another strong season
  • Everton do well despite almost getting relegated last term

Manchester City Win Fourth Title In A Row

Last season, City completed a fascinating treble as they lifted the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. It was the first time that a team in England had done it since 1998/99 when Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United won all three of the prestigious trophies.

And unsurprisingly, Pep Guardiola’s side came out as the league winners in our Supercomputer Premier League prediction. They have lost a couple of players this summer in Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, but have also recruited well, as they usually do.

City have signed Croatian duo Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol from Chelsea and RB Leipzig respectively, and are interested in bringing in a new winger too.

Another interesting finding from the SportsLens Supercomputer Premier League prediction is that Arsenal finished runners-up to City once again. The two had a great battle for the title last season, with City eventually coming out on top, winning the league by five points.

However, the Gunners have improved their squad this summer, signing Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber. It is clear that Mikel Arteta believes his side can compete with the Cityzens again, but our supercomputer prediction sees Guardiola’s men win the league by six points this time around.

There will be some hope for Arsenal fans though, after their side beat City at Wembley in the Community Shield. Cole Palmer had put the Cityzens 1-0 up, but Leandro Trossard scored a 99th minute equaliser to send the game to penalties. The Gunners eventually prevailed, winning 4-1 via spot-kicks.

Luton Town & Burnley Both Stay Up

One of the most shocking findings from the SportsLens Supercomputer Premier League prediction was that both Luton Town and Burnley survived, finishing 12th and 10th respectively.

However, with many believing this is one of the weakest top flight lineups in recent years, there is likely to be a couple of surprises along the way.

Luton and Burnley have both recruited well since being promoted from the Championship, unlike the third club that came up with them – Sheffield United.

The Blades have not brought in many players, and have lost some big names including Billy Sharp and Iliman Ndiaye. Sander Berge also looks to be on his way out, with Burnley close to signing him. Our predictor has United getting relegated on goal difference.

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley have signed James Trafford from Man City, as well as Dara O’Shea from West Brom, and the permanent signing of Jordan Beyer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Meanwhile Luton have also made some good moves this summer. They’ve signed Tabith Chong, Ryan Giles, Issa Kabore and Chiedozie Ogbene amongst others.

Fulham and Nottingham Forest See Two Year Stay In Top Flight End

The three relegated clubs were Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United. Fulham and Forest came up to the Premier League together a couple of seasons ago alongside Bournemouth – who only survived this time around on goal difference. However, they are both predicted to go down according to the SportsLens Supercomputer Premier League prediction.

Sheffield United failed to replace key players they lost in the summer and somehow have managed to look weaker after getting promoted from the Championship.

The Cherries are predicted to have been fortunate to survive on goal difference, after them and the Blades both finished on 26 points.
