Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has wished his former player Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez well upon his return to boyhood club Club Deportivo Guadalajara, known as Chivas.

Hernandez Rejoins Chivas

Javier Hernandez rejoined his boyhood club Chivas on Wednesday, returning to the club he began his professional career with in 2006.

Hernandez, who is the all-time leading goal scorer for Mexico, spent four years in Chivas’ senior squad before landing his dream move to European giants Manchester United.

Chicarito then went on to have spells at Real Madrid, Bundesliga table toppers Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and Sevilla, before settling at LA Galaxy.

However, having ruptured his ACL in June, Hernandez missed the remainder of the 2023 MLS campaign and subsequently left the club in November, leaving him free to sign a contract with Chivas.

Ferguson Wishes Hernandez Well Upon His Return To Chivas

Upon hearing the news of Hernandez’s return to Chivas, Sir Alex Ferguson sent a heartfelt message to his former player via Manchester United’s Twitter/X account, saying: “Chicharito. It’s your old boss here.

“First of all, I want to congratulate you on your return to your old club, back in Mexico, where it all started. Where I found you, signed you, and you were a great, fantastic player for us.

“You’ve had a great career. I think now, when you go back to your old club, you have an opportunity to add your experience and give your experience to all the players there.

“So, regards to your family, have a great time and more goals to come. All the best.”

Hernandez Responds To Ferguson

Responding in kind over Twitter/X, Hernandez said: “Boss, there’s no words to describe how much you mean to me. Being able to say I was one of your players is one of my biggest achievements. THANK YOU! And to my other family @ManUtd thank you for letting me be part of your history. Will love you forever. Once a red always a red.”
