This damning Manchester United stat could be the reason for Rasmus Hojlund’s poor form in front of goal in the Premier League this season.

Rasmus Hojlund At Manchester United

Signing from Atalanta for £72m in the summer, Rasmus Hojlund was initially brought in as competition for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial up front.

However, due to injuries and poor form for both Rashford and Martial, the Danish striker has been thrown straight in at the deep end for Manchester United.

After spending the first few weeks of the season out injured, Hojlund made his debut for the club in September in a 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

Since then, the Dane has starred for the Red Devils in their underwhelming Champions League campaign, scoring 5 goals and sits joint top with the likes of Erling Haaland and Antione Griezmann as the competition’s highest scorers.

Unfortunately for Hojlund, his goalscoring exploits weren’t enough to save United from finishing bottom of their group and being eliminated from the competition.

To add to Hojlund’s miserable start to life in Manchester, he is still yet to score his first goal or register an assist in the Premier League, despite having made 13 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Manchester United’s Damning Hojlund Stat

However, a recent stat posted by The United Stand on Twitter/X could explain why Rasmus Hojlund has struggled so much for goals this season.

The graphic shows the number of passes Premier League strikers have received from their teammates this season, with Hojlund firmly bottom of the list with just under 150 passes received.

Meanwhile, the free-scoring Son Heung-Min tops the list with just under 400 passes received, over three-times more than Hojlund.

This stat will resonate with Rio Ferdinand, who recently suggested that Hojlund has not been getting the service he requires at Manchester United.

Do you think this stat explains Rasmus Hojlund’s poor scoring form this season?
