Respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli are interested in making a move for Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez ahead of the summer transfer window.

Football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli are interested in Manchester City‘s Riyad Mahrez.

Mahrez becomes the latest star linked with a move to the Middle Eastern country, following the moves of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and the rumoured-to-be complete N’Golo Kante.

The winger still has a year left on his contract, therefore a fee would almost certainly be required for his transfer.

Romano revealed the transfer news on his Twitter account on Thursday morning.

“Saudi side Al-Ahli interest in Riyad Mahrez, confirmed and concrete as they want to sign Algerian star – but Manchester City have not been approached yet at this stage.” he tweeted.

“Man City would require a consistent fee for Mahrez, no chance to let him leave for free.”

The Algerian forward has enjoyed another good season under Pep Guardiola, and could be in line to win a ground-breaking treble.

City have already won the Premier League and the FA Cup, and are to face Inter in the final of the Champions League on Saturday evening.

Mahrez has appeared for the Citizens 47 times this term, scoring 15 and assisting 13.

His most impressive output this season was in the FA Cup. He made five appearances in the competition, scoring five times as well as providing one assist.

If his time in Manchester is to end, it will be rememebered as the most successful spell of his career.

The 32-year-old has won four Premier League titles with the club, as well as two FA Cups, three Carabao Cups and two Community Shields.
