Rodrigo Bentancur suffered ankle ligament damage in Tottenham Hotspur’s loss vs Aston Villa, but how long is the Uruguayan facing on the sidelines?
How Long Is Rodrigo Bentancur Out For With Ankle Ligament Damage?
The Spurs midfielder is facing a period of at least ten weeks out after suffering an injury in Saturday’s defeat vs Aston Villa, where he was forced off after just 32 minutes of action.
This means the next time we see Bentancur in a Tottenham shirt is likely going to be in February, a tough blow for the 26-year-old who recently returned from eight months out with an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear in his left knee.
Villa’s Matty Cash produced a late challenge on the former Juventus man, which earned him a yellow card from referee Robert Jones. Spurs are facing yet another significant injury blow, adding to an already long list of casualties.
Doherty in 2022, Bentancur in 2023. No one wants to see red cards in the game but Marty Cash surely wanted to take Bentancur out. Got his right knee, exactly the same challenge as Doherty. Scum of a player pic.twitter.com/Rzh0Fo5Uoa

What Is Ankle Ligament Damage?
Your ankle is made up of three bones – tibia (shin bone, inside ankle bone), fibula (outer lower leg, outside ankle bone) and talus (deep ankle bone).
These ligaments attach from bone to bone and limit the movement available at each joints, ensuring stability and acting as a shock absorber.
