It’s fair to say that Manchester United’s top priority this summer will be to sign a top-rated striker. Especially as their number nine problems still aren’t fixed.

Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand has given his opinion on who he thinks that his former club should sign out of Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane.

The ex-United defender believes that if they sign at least one of Osimhen or Kane this summer, then they will become title contenders.

Erik ten Hag spent a hefty £220 million last summer improving the squad in key areas, however didn’t sign a striker. United probably didn’t predict they’d be losing their most prolific forward at the time in Cristiano Ronaldo. The 38-year-old’s downfall at the club all came after he was involved in a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

United have a long-term admiration for Kane, and if Spurs’ top goalscorer of all time went anywhere then Old Trafford is a likely destination.

However, the Manchester club are also heavily interested in Napoli’s Osimhen. There’s no secret as to why with the Nigerian netting 20 goals so far this season in all competitions.

What Did Rio Ferdinand Have To Say?

Ferdinand was speaking on BT Sport.

“I think if I was talking about investing and looking after my money, I’d probably go for Osimhen,

“There’s resale value with his age at 24 years old. It’s gonna be a huge outlay,’

The United legend did say he’d be delighted with any of the two. He mentioned United’s title hopes if they signed one or the other.

“I’d take either. I’ve got to be honest with you, if Manchester United add either of those two players you mentioned to their roster they become title contenders.

“On form he’s (Osimhen) flying. You’ve got Rashford and him who are absolutely flying in terms of form.

“But when you talk about the best players in the world, the Mbappe‘s of this world are still levels above.”
