Real Madrid are reportedly looking to bring Erling Haaland to the Spanish capital once Karim Benzema leaves the club. The Frenchman is nearing the end of his time at the Bernabeu, and Madrid hierarchy want a replacement sorted sooner rather than later.

Benzema’s contract expires this summer, but the 35-year-old is expected to sign a one-year extension.

Looking ahead into the future, it’s reported that Madrid want to sign Haaland as Benzema’s replacement. He’s said to be Madrid’s number one priority in the summer of 2024.

Haaland is currently in scintillating form, and his first season in England has been unforgettable so far. The Norwegian striker has 47 goals in all competitions in 40 games.

He’s on track to smash the Premier League top goalscorer record, and levelled it at 32 goals over the weekend after scoring a brace against Leicester City.

Signing the giant won’t be easy for Madrid, with reports suggesting he has no release clause in his contract. Even though he signed for City for just £60 million, his market value has at least tripled, and could be anywhere between £180-250 million.

City know that Madrid are long-term admirers of Haaland, and will likely do everything in their powers to keep him at the Etihad for as long as possible.

Apart from Haaland, the current Champions League holders have a strong interest in Kylian Mbappe. They’ve reportedly been exploring the possibility of bringing both players to the Spanish capital in 2024.

Next year is also when Endrick will officially join Madrid from Palmeiras, which could certainly make for an exciting attacking trio.
