Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring the situation of Manchester City defender, Joao Cancelo, as the Portuguese international looks set to leave the club this summer.

The Manchester City star has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since his arrival in 2019, making 154 appearances and contributing to 31 goals.

However, the former Juventus defender has had a difficult campaign this year, being loaned to Bayern Munich after a run of poor performances.

Rumours of a fall-out with manager, Pep Guardiola, started to circulate during Cancelo’s exit and could play a big part in his future.

His time in Germany has not gone according to plan, despite a recent run of form that saw him play 90 minutes in the last four consecutive matches.

The Bundesliga side are unlikely to make Cancelo’s deal permanent, leaving a host of clubs interested in the 28-year-old.

Los Blancos have had a disappointing season for their lofty standards, as they were unable to reclaim their La Liga and Champions League crown.

Carlo Ancelotti could be leaving Spain in the summer, after they were eliminated by Manchester City and suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s side.

Full-backs, Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal, have not cemented a place in Madrid’s starting lineup and Cancelo could be an alternative option.

Ancelotti has opted for Eduardo Camavinga to play in the left-back position, despite signing the teenager as a central midfielder.

Meaning the addition of Cancelo could unlock their young Frenchman’s full potential, with Aurelien Tchouameni looking likely to depart in the summer.

Los Blancos are also reportedly close to signing teenage superstar, Jude Bellingham and could be a partnering signing with Joao Cancelo.
