Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly set to miss Atalanta’s pre-season friendly versus Bournemouth today as his move to Manchester United nears completion.

Manchester United look set to complete a move for Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund, as the forward will miss the Serie A side’s friendly against Bournemouth today with his move now near completion.

United have been linked with the forward for several months, and despite a gap in valuation for the player between the clubs throughout that time, they look to have finally struck a deal.

This comes from football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who claims that a deal is closer than ever, and that talks continue to advance.

“Manchester United and Atalanta, closer to reaching an agreement for Rasmus Højlund — talks advancing.” Romano tweeted.

“Understand Højlund will NOT play today in friendly game vs Bournemouth as the clubs decided to avoid any risk with deal at advanced stages.”

Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the Danish forward, however according to reports, his sights have always been set on a move to Old Trafford.

His arrival comes at a perfect time for the Red Devils, who have been crying out for a new striker.

This was highlighted after United’s recent pre-season friendly defeat to Real Madrid, where Erik ten Hag told the press that his side ‘absolutely’ needed a new striker.

After failing to find the net despite having plenty of chances, Ten Hag was asked whether this emphasised their need for a new striker, to which he responded: “Absolutely.

“There were two things – the pressing can be better from the start, and scoring goals.

“I think we need more players who are capable to be in the one-on-ones and we had the situations of one-on-ones.

“It was (Marcus) Rashford, it was, I thought, Scott McTominay in one-on-one situations. Garnacho, a one-on-one situation. From the situations, you have to score.”
