SportsLens Head of News, Lee Astley, commented on the odds saying: “Although the odds suggest Raheem Sterling’s England career is far from over, four successive omissions is bound conjure up conversations once more.

“Southgate spoke to the 82-cap winger after being left out last month, and described him as ‘not happy’ to be left out. To rub further salt in the wounds, he then confirmed he is happy with his current pool of wide players, to which Jarrod Bowen has now been added and Sterling snubbed.

“Sterling has proved integral in the Three Lion’s recent tournament success, but this fourth straight camp without an inclusion certainly begs the question as to whether he is in Southgate’s plans.

“A bit-part player among a misfiring Chelsea side is not likely to do him any favours, but there is no doubting his big game credentials on the international stage, and with Euro 2024 beckoning next summer in Germany, a positive season could transform his misfortunes.”
