Leao has played a huge part in Milan’s recent success, and helped guide his side to the Serie A title last season, which was the club’s first Scudetto since 2011.
His most recent deal was due to expire next summer, and with plenty of interest from European clubs, Milan knew they had to offer him a new contract sooner rather than later.
A host of Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool are said to have been interested the Milan ace. However, any hopes of that happening anytime soon can be forgotten.
The Portuguese forward is a doubt for side’s Champions League semi-final with rivals Inter Milan, but has been included in the squad. He sustained a muscle injury in AC’s league win over Lazio on Saturday.
There’s no secret as to why he’s rated so highly with 13 goals and 13 assists across all competitions this season. Rafael Leao also has 18 caps for Portugal, and played at the Qatar World Cup, where he scored twice.
