NOTTINGHAM 2.20
SHAZAM (system- Ralph Beckett, debutantes at Nottingham)
This century, Ralph Beckett has a seven from 30 record when running a filly on her debut at Nottingham and backing them all would have returned a profit of £32.75 to the usual £1 stake. Eight of the beaten horses ran second or third and SHAZAM, a €140,000 purchase, is bred to appreciate the forecast soft going.
NOTTINGHAM 2.55
STARMAS (system – David Loughnane, second run for the yard)
David Loughnane has a useful record at the second time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 19 of the 132 qualifiers (14.4% strike-rate) for a profit of ÂŁ66.58 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. STARMAS finished a respectable 10-1 fourth at Wolverhampton on her recent debut for the yard and can break her duck.
NOTTINGHAM 4.40
FAST RESPONSE (system – Fast Company, good to soft or softer going, Flat)
Progeny of the sire Fast Company have a solid record when racing on officially good to soft or softer going on the Flat, landing 32 of their 238 starts (13.5%) for a profit of £21.05. On soft or heavy going only, the profit improves to £55.23. They’re calling it soft at Nottingham today and the consistent FAST RESPONSE looks set to run another good race with conditions to suit.
PUNCHESTOWN 5.05
SILVERTOWN (system – Gavin Cromwell, first run in a handicap chase, Class D or lower)
Gavin Cromwell is nine from 56 with his handicap chase debutants for a profit of £6.00 and those who were running in Class D or lower company, as SILVERTOWN is today, are eight from 26 for a profit of £29.00. The five-year-old didn’t impress with his jumping when a modest sixth of 14 at Kilbeggan last time but that was only his second chase outing, and he might do better now handicapping.
