ASCOT 1.30
TWO TEMPTING (system – New Bay handicappers, top-three finish last time out)
Progeny of the sire New Bay tend to hold their form and had we simply bet all the handicappers who recorded a top-three finish on their latest start we’d have won 66 of our 197 bets (prior to Tuesday’s racing) for a profit of £112.57 to a £1 level stake at SP. The six Ascot runners produced two winners (18-1 and 16-1) and two in the frame (20-1 and 9-1) from just six bets. TWO TEMPTING, runner-up at Kempton on last month’s comeback when doing best of the prominent racers, should improve for that and looks worth an each-way interest.
PONTEFRACT 2.15
TAYGAR (system – Michael Dods, second-time out 2yos)
TAYGAR qualifies as a bet for me on several different systems, including the record of trainer Michael Dods with second-time out juveniles. Since the beginning of 2012 he’s won with 40 of the 239 qualifiers (16.7%) for a profit of £64.22. Taygar won well at Beverley on her recent debut and is well drawn in stall 2 in this 5f restricted novice contest.
PONTEFRACT 4.35
SONGWRITER (system – Amo Racing-owned newcomers)
Owners Amo Racing have plenty of debut winners, whether two or three-year-olds and regardless of his trains them. The current score stands at 33 winners from 143 qualifiers for a profit of £42.50. SONGWRITER isn’t best drawn but looks worth chancing at a nice price.
