LUDLOW 3.45
HEAD TO THE STARS (System – Chasers at Ludlow, ran in a Ludlow chase last-time out)
Horses who ran over fences at Ludlow on their latest start are profitable to follow when returning to the course for their next outing. Since the beginning of 2007, simply backing all chasers at Ludlow, who also ran over fences here on their latest outing (regardless of where the finished), would have found 114 winners from 614 bets (18.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £148.28 to a £1 level stake at SP. Three-time course winner HEAD TO THE STARS lost all chance with a bad mistake at the last on his latest visit to the Shropshire venue and has decent claims on his return.
DONCASTER 4.10
BLUEBELLA (System – Tom Lacey, handicap hurdle debutants)
Tom Lacey does very well with hurdlers making their handicap debut and backing them blind would have found 21 winners from 94 qualifiers, returning a decent profit of £65.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. BLUEBELLA has hinted at ability on a couple of her starts and may improve for a recent break now switching to handicap company.
NEWCASTLE 5.05
HE’S SO BRAZEN (System – Brazen Beau, Newcastle)
Progeny of the sire Brazen Beau have a solid record on the Tapeta surface at Newcastle, winning 21 of their 120 races for a profit of £14.48 to the usual £1 level stake at SP (expected number of winners = 13.09). HE’S SO BRAZEN ran well after a break in October, finishing runner-up in a Wolverhampton handicap and may be able to break his maiden tag after a similar rest on his return to action at Gosforth Park.
