LUDLOW 1.55
GOLDEN MAVERICK (system – Zarak, turf)
Progeny of Zarak have a good record on turf – the sire’s Flat runners are 19 from 100 for a profit of £150.41, while the hurdles are nine from 23 (+£0.91). GOLDEN MAVERICK didn’t jump well when beaten on his jumps debut at Catterick but might fare better with that experience behind him.
DONCASTER 2.35
POUNDING POET (system – Tom Lacey, handicap hurdles)
Tom Lacey has an unusually good record with his handicap hurdlers, scoring with 128 of the 579 qualifiers (22.1%) for a profit of £139.88 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 97.34, A/E = 1.33). POUNDING POET wouldn’t be an obvious play in this 3m contest having pulled up the last twice but the wind operation could also help and he can bounce back to form.
DONCASTER 4.15
MY FRIEND SEAN (system – Tom Lacey, handicap hurdle debut)
Tom Lacey has a fine record with his handicap hurdlers, scoring with 128 of the 579 qualifiers (22.1%) for a profit of ÂŁ139.88 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 97.34, A/E = 1.33). Those having their first run in handicap hurdle company were 25 from 108 (23.2%) for a profit of ÂŁ72.58 (expected winners = 14.95, A/E = 1.67). MY FRIEND SEAN has form figures of 6000 (0-4) but looks a likely improver now up in trip on his handicap debut.
KEMPTON 6.30
DELTA LEGEND (system – Jane Chapple-Hyam, last time out winners)
Since the beginning of 2015, Jane Chapple-Hyam is 38 from 162 (23.4%) with her last-time out winners and backing them blin would have returned a profit of ÂŁ59.83 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. DELTA LEGEND scored gamely in the second-time cheekpieces at Lingfield last month and can follow up.
KEMPTON 7.00
CUBAN TIGER (system – Karl Burke, second-time out 2yos, all-weather)
Last week, Alpine Oasis won at 16-1 for this column to take Karl Burke’s record on the all-weather with three-year-olds on their second career start, since 2010, to 17 winners from 70 bets (24.3%) for a profit of £112.33 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 9.63, A/E = 1.77). CUBAN TIGER, a narrow scorer at Southwell when odds-on for last month’s debut, faces some tough rivals in this conditions contest but looks the value play to follow up.
