MUSSELBURGH 1.45
FIRST ACCOUNT (system – Malinas, 2m4f+, good to soft or softer going)
Progeny of the sire Malinas are profitable to back blind when given a trip of 2m4f or further and good to soft or softer going and the Keith Dalgleish-trained FIRST ACCOUNT faces those conditions today. This consistent nine-year-old has been off the track since running second in this race last year, a run that took his combined record at Musselburgh and Perth to 1112 (3-4).
CHELMSFORD 2.30
BLUEFLAGFLYING (system – Michael Bell, gelded since last run, handicaps only)
Since the beginning of 2010, Michael Bell has a 27 from 124 record with newly-gelded runners in handicap company (22% strike-rate) for a profit of £67.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. The six who ran at Chelmsford produced three winners (3-1, 9-4 and 2-1) and two seconds (16-1 and 9-2). BLUEFLAGFLYING has hinted at ability in three runs over shorter and looks a likely improver now gelded ahead of his handicap debut.
MUSSELBURGH 2.45
ARTHUR’S QUAY (system – Ben Haslam long travellers, recent run)
Last week’s 15-2 Catterick winner ARTHUR’S QUAY looks worth a bet to follow up under a penalty. Since the beginning of 2010, Ben Haslam is nine from 29 (31%) with horses travelling 150 miles or more from his North Yorkshire base who’d raced withing the past fortnight and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £17.05 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who won last-time out were five from eight for a profit of £9.55.
