BEN BULBEN (system – Harry Fry, Exeter)
Harry Fry has a great record at Exeter, scoring with 46 of his 157 runners (29.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £62.01 to a £1 level stake at SP. BEN BULBEN was disappointing in a first-time tongue-tie at Plumpton but could be worth another chance now that he drops in grade and is fitted with first-time cheekpieces.
DONCASTER 2.25
MIDNIGHT GLANCE (system – Alan King, first-time visor)
Alan King’s first-time visored runners are 17 from 107 this century for a profit of £33.27 (expected winners = 11.74) and MIDNIGHT GLANCE, who might have found the ground too soft when a modest second to subsequent winner Certainly Red at Wincanton las time, holds obvious claims. His only previous flirtation with first-time headgear saw him win at 7-1 in cheekpieces and his yard is in good form.
SOUTHWELL 8.00
AIN’T NO SUNSHINE (system – Keith Dalgleish, all-weather, fresh, out of the frame on latest start)
Keith Dalgleish has a useful record on the all-weather with horses returning from a break of eight weeks or longer and backing those who were out of the frame on their latest start (finishing fifth or worse) would have found 24 winners from 166 bets since 2010 (14.5%) for a profit of £92.88 to a £ 1 level stake at SP. AIN’T NO SUNSHINE ran poorly on turf at Redcar last time but could be worth chancing to bounce back at what should be decent odds.
