INVICTUS ALLEN (system – Christian Williams, second-time cheekpieces)
Christian Williams does well with horses having their second run in cheekpieces (providing the first-time cheekpieces were fitted on their latest start), scoring with seven of the 23 qualifiers since May 2016 for a profit of £25.25. INVICTUS ALLEN found only Percy Veering too good when fitted with the first-time headgear at Ffos Last on his latest outing and that form was boosted when the winner defied a 6lb rise at Exeter last week.
FAKENHAM 2.40
SCENE ONE (system – Lucy Wadham, Fakenham)
Lucy Wadham has an excellent record at Fakenham, scoring with 65 of her 252 runners this century (25.8%) for a profit of £54.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. SCENE ONE contributed when justifying 6-4 favouritism in handicap chase company on his course/seasonal debut last month and can be forgiven his subsequent 14-1 reverse over hurdles at Doncaster. The return to fences at this venue will suit and his trainer/jockey combined to land the latest renewal of this female jockeys’ handicap chase.
WOLVRHAMPTON 5.00
ESCARPMENT (system – Mick Appleby, stable switchers)
Mick Appleby does very well at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 98 of the 559 qualifiers (17.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £313.27 to a £1 level stake at SP. The last two qualifiers to run at Wolverhampton won at 10-1 and 11-4 and perhaps ESCARPMENT, ex-Freddie & Martyn Meade, can get the hat-trick up. The son of Fastnet Rock had some useful for on turf and is bred to appreciate the switch to Tapeta.
