SALISBURY 1.25
TONY MONTANA (system – Amo Racing-owned newcomers)
Owners Amo Racing have had a great year and their newcomers have done especially well, with 11 of the 39 qualifiers scoring for a profit of £33.50 to the usual £1 stake. Kingman colt TONY MONTANA looks a likely type on paper and can make a winning start to his career.
LINGFIELD 1.44
GREEK FLAME (system – Siyouni, 4yo+, Polytrack)
Progeny of the sire Siyouni take time to mature and they also run exceptionally well on Polytrack. Backing only those aged four or older at Chelmsford, Dundalk, Kempton and Lingfield – the four Polytrack venues – would have found 38 winners from 182 runners (20.9% strike-rate) for a profit of £77.10 to a £1 level stake at SP.
Four of GREEK FLAME’s five all-weather runs have taken place on Tapeta and though well beaten (sixth of seven) at Kempton on her sole Polytrack outing, she had excuses (failed to settle in a steadily-run contest). The Fanshawe yard is in good form and William Buick is up for the first time. CRACK REGIMENT also qualifies on this angle in the 8.30 at Chelmsford, though he has a tricky draw in stall 11.
CHELMSFORD 5.25
COUNTER (system – Ralph Beckett, Chelmsford, speed & draw adjusted)
Ralph Beckett has a solid record at Chelmsford and backing his runners drawn in stall 6 or lower who had clocked one of the two best last-time-out speed figures (according to Proform’s ratings) would have found 17 winners from 35 bets (48.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £76.81 to a £1 level stake at SP. COUNTER, who did well to run third at Goodwood last time after getting taken on for the lead, is the latest qualifier and looks worth supporting.
WOLVERHAMPTON 7.45
COUL UNIVERSE (system – sire Coulsty, Wolverhampton)
Sir Mark Prescott’s Golden Shot is going to be very hard to beat here but the bet, whether each-way, in a forecast to finish second to the jolly, or in the ‘without the favourite’ market, is fellow three-year-old COUL UNIVERSE.
He needs to improve on his last-time out 50-1 Chelmsford sixth but progeny of his sire Coulsty often do when running at Dunstall Park. The sire is five from 20 here for a profit of £101.08, improving to five from 12 with his three-year-olds (+£109.08). His patient style looks idea for this course and distance.
CHELMSFORD 8.30
BE LUCKY MY SON (system – Ralph Beckett, first-time blinkers)
Since the start of 2016, Ralph Beckett is 22 from 96 when using first-time blinkers for a profit of £87.23 to a £1 level stake at SP. Course and distance winner BE LUCKY MY SON, well drawn in stall 2, has form figures in all-weather handicaps of 141 (2-3) and will appreciate the return to an artificial surface after his last-time-out 20-1 Salisbury third.
