SOUTHWELL 1.50
DREAMS DELIVERED (system – Mick Appleby stable switchers)
In-form Mick Appleby has a fantastic record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other trainers, scoring with 93 of the 523 qualifiers (17.8% strike-rate) for a profit of £319.77 to a £1 level stake at SP. Latest qualifier Rossmore Nation was backed from 9-1 into 13-8 favouritism when scoring at Southwell earlier this week and perhaps DREAMS DELIVERED can follow suit.
HUNTINGDON 2.50
PRESENTING BELLE (system – Lucy Wadham, February)
This century, Lucy Wadham is 53 from 344 (15.3%) with her runners in February and backing them all would have returned a small profit. She runs two in this maiden hurdle – For Gina and PRESENTING BELLE. The last-named has pulled up in both starts under Rules but has had a wind operation since we last saw her and she could be worth a small interest.
SEDGEFIELD 3.50
DONDIAM (system – Laura Morgan, chasers)
Laura Morgan has a 73 from 338 record (21.5% strike-rate) with her chasers and backing them all would have returned a very healthy profit of £120.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. DONDIAM, who fell when favourite in a first-time hood at Musselburgh on his penultimate start, wasn’t beaten far into fourth place at Fakenham last time and the first-time tongue-tie could help.
NEWCSTLE 5.00
QAASID (system – sire Awtaad, Tapeta)
Since the beginning of December 2021 (when Southwell swapped Fibresand for Tapeta) progeny of the sire Awtaad have a 25 from 97 record at the three Tapeta venues for a profit of £28.57. QAASID contributed with a 3-1 win from Muzaffar over course and distance last time and the form was franked when the runner-up went one better at Southwell. The pair pulled well clear of the third and Julie Camacho’s five-year-old could prove hard to beat.
