Andrew has been in good form this month and has three more stats-based picks at Newcastle and Sandown on Thursday, February 16th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
NEWCASTLE 1.00
HOWLINGMADMURDOCK (system – Tom Lacey, handicap debutants)
In-form Tom Lacey has a 21 from 93 record with his handicap debutants (prior to Wednesday’s racing) and backing them blind would have returned a profit of ÂŁ66.25 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. He’s two from two on this angle so far this month (9-2 and 9-4) and the wonderfully named HOWLINGMADMURDOCK can add to recent gains . The six-year-old landed a Fontwell bumper on his sole start for Anthony Honeyball and won well at Plumpton on his hurdles/stable debut in November. He lost his 100% record at Catterick next time but there was no disgrace in finishing second of 15 to main market rival Supreme Gift.
SANDOWN 1.50
CORRIGEEN ROCK (systems – Westerner, first run after a wind operation & Lucinda Russell chasers, first run after a wind operation)
Course winner CORRIGEEN ROCK was beaten by nine lengths into second place here last time but has undergone wind surgery since and is taken to return to winning ways. When racing on officially good to soft or faster going, chase progeny of his sire, Westerner, have form figures on their first run after a wind operation of 4251410711 (4-10) for a profit of ÂŁ21.25 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. Trainer Lucinda Russell had a 7-4 first-time wind op runner score over fences at Ayr on Tuesday, taking her record with chasers on their first start following the procedure to seven from 43 for a profit of ÂŁ47.25.
NEWCASTLE 4.30
IVETWIGGEDIT (system – Tom Lacey, second run in a handicap debut)
On several occasions I’ve mentioned how well Tom Lacey does with his handicap hurdle debutants and he also have a solid record with those having their second start in a handicap hurdle. Since the spring of 2016, he’s won with 15 of the 71 qualifiers for a profit of £28.60 to a £1 level stale at SP. Taking the best early price the night before racing would have boosted that to £59.50. IVETWIGGEDIT, advised in this column when winning at Doncaster last time, is taken to follow up.
