CURRAGH 1.50
ABOVE THE CURVE (system – American Pharoah/Galileo cross, 1m1f+, turf)
Progeny of the sire American Pharoah, crossed with Galileo, have a fine record over 1m1f or further on turf, landing six of their 12 starts for a profit of £78.30 to a £1 level stake at SP. That’s obviously a small sample but it’s encouraging when assessing the claims of Jospeh O’Brien’s ABOVE THE CURVE in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes. Her three runs beyond 1m have produced two wins and a neck second at Chester where the patient tactics employed were at a big disadvantage.
CHEPSTOW 3.10
CABEZA DE LLAVE (system – Pearl Secret, turf, not debut)
Progeny of the sire Pearl Secret do well on turf outside of their racecourse debuts, landing 15 of their 123 starts for a huge profit of ÂŁ213.33 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. CABEZA DE LLAVE improved for the switch to turf when scoring at Windsor in June and doubled her career tally when successful at Brighton last time. Both wins came on officially good to firm going but soft conditions should suit on breeding, and she could have further improvement to come.
CHEPSTOW 3.40
THE EMBEZZLER (system – Fast Company, soft or heavy going, Flat)
Since the beginning of 2016, progeny of the sire Fast Company are 103 from 753 (13.7%) on the Flat in Britain and Ireland when racing on soft or heavy going. THE EMBEZZLER’s three turf runs took place on good/faster ground in novice/maiden company, and he’s raced exclusively on the all-weather since joining current trainer John O’Shea. He could surprise now that he encounters cut in the ground for the first time.
CURRAGH 4.45
RATTLE AND HUM (system – New Bay, top three finish last time out)
Simply backing any progeny of the sire New Bay who finished in the top three on their latest start would have found 88 winners from 272 runners for a profit of ÂŁ100.77. RATTLE AND HUM was a solid third at Galway on his debut in late July and can go two places better.
