SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE (system – Malinas, jumps, 2m4f+, good to soft or softer going)
Progeny of the sire Malinas have a good record over 2m4f or further when racing on officially good to soft or softer going, landing 111 of their 663 jumps outings (16.7%) for a profit of £21.60 to a £1 level stake at SP. SPECIAL ACCEPTANCE is hardly prolific, scoring just once from 26 starts, but he often finishes second and looks a viable place only or ‘without the favourite’ play.
PLUMPTON 3.55
SALIGO BAY (system – New Bay handicappers, top three finish last time out)
Progeny of New Bay have a cracking record in handicaps on the back of a top-three finish, landing 85 of their 302 starts (28.2%) for a profit of £125.78 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 58.38, A/E = 1.46). SALIGO BAY only won a seller here last time out but his full course record of 22141 (2-5) suggests he’ll be thereabouts once more on his return to handicap company.
WOLVERHAMPTON 8.30
TOMMYTWOHOOTS (system – Shaun Harris, visored all-weather runners)
Shaun Harris is eight from 42 with his visored all-weather runners for a profit of £48.00 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 3.83, A/E = 2.09). Ten of the beaten horses also made the frame and TOMMYTWOHOOTS, who contributed with a first-time visored course and distance success at 10-1 in November, is taken to bounce back from his eighth place at Southwell last time. They went hard up front that day and the six-year-old, who went without headgear actually fared third best of the prominent racers. The headgear goes back on tonight and he’s worth a small interest despite his wide draw.
