EL HABEEB finished a fine sixth at 150-1 in last season’s St Leger and reversed the form with the Doncaster fourth, Giavellotto, when landing a 1m6f Listed contest at Ascot just 19 days later. Kevin Philippart De Foy’s colt finished a creditable fifth to Broome in the Dubai Gold Cup on his reappearance and this progressive individual looks the bet against short-priced favourite TRUESHAN in the Sagaro Stakes. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

MARBAAN found Group 1 company too hot towards the end of last season, finishing last of six in the National Stakes at the Curragh before his fifth of seven in the Dewhurst at Newmarket. He wasn’t best drawn in the second of those runs and we’ve already seen the badly-berthed seventh, Isaac Shelby, win first-time out this term. Marbaan’s record below Group 1 level stands at 3111 (3-4), with the defeat at 12-1 on his racecourse debut when clearly in need of the experience. The drop in grade/cut back to 6f look ideal and this course and distance will suit his patient running style. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back him each-way in the fixed odds betting.
