Kevin Philippart De Foy does very well with horses he takes over from other yards and EXPERT AGENT went into the notebook after making his stable/handicap debut at Newcastle in the autumn. Travelling smoothly in the race, he was pushed up to dispute the lead inside the final furlong but faded close home to finish fourth behind Phillip Makin’s filly Lupset Flossy Pop and looked sure to improve for that experience. His new handler fitted the first-time cheekpieces in a bid to help him concentrate on his next outing at Kempton, but after a tardy start from a wide draw, jockey Benoit De La Sayette made too much use of him trying to get a prominent position and he paid the penalty for those early exertions, weakening to finish a modest fifth. He clicked at Kempton on his third outing for Philippart De Foy, travelling well in rear before quickening smartly inside the final furlong and passing the entire field to record a comfortable success. That form looks rock solid, with the second, fourth and sixth place finishers all winning since, and he has sound claims of going in again. ISLAND OF SKYE
ISLAND OF SKYE very much caught the eye when a tenderly handled 20-1 eighth of 12 to Adace over course and distance in November. He travelled well on the heels of the leaders early but lost his position on the turn for home and was shuffled back through the field. Switched wide, he made eye-catching headway but wasn’t given a hard time in the closing stages and did well to finish a little over four lengths behind the winner. He had excuses on his next start when losing his jockey after clipping heels and then did best of the runners to come from off the pace when a 12-1 fourth to Capparis on the Southwell Tapeta. He’s had wind surgery since his last start and could be worth chancing on his return to action. Buy in the 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price with Spreadex.
