His final ride of the day, the Hugo Palmer-trained WICCAN (4.00), makes a quick reappearance after a decent third of 11 to Tennessee Dream on her handicap debut at Wolverhampton over 7f and looks very interesting now stepping back in trip. Ralph Beckett’s SOFIA CAT was well supported into 3-1 second favourite for her racecourse debut in a 6f fillies’ novice contest at Windsor last August and ran a race full of promise – running green in rear early, she made steady headway once the penny dropped and ran on to finish a fair fifth to Song Of Success. We didn’t see her again until December when she ran a respectable fourth to Beelzebub over 6f at Chelmsford before finding the drop to the minimum trip against her when a 16-1 fourth of six at Wolverhampton. This step back up in trip for her handicap debut could be just the ticket and, with valuable experience under her belt, she has sound claims from a good draw in stall 3. Buy in the 50-25-10 market or take a price in the Spreadex fixed odds betting.
