ROYAL THUNDER showed plenty of ability on his handicap debut at Kempton last summer, faring best of the prominent runners. He battled on bravely on the far side, but failed to hold off the late challenge of the strong closers, finishing third to Tequilamockingbird. Returned to the Sunbury venue for his next start, he ran to a similar level form, finishing a respectable 5-1 fourth to the well-handicapped True Courage (winner again next time). He also ran well on his final outing last season – his last start for trainer William Knight – when a decent third to At Liberty in a 1m2f handicap on the turf at Yarmouth and has now joined the Stuart Edmunds yard. Edmunds has been doing very well with his new acquisitions of late and has scored with five of his last seven recruits at the first time of asking.
