Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:
Andrew heads to Cheltenham and day one of the festival for his two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, March 14th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
CHELTENHAM 2.50
The Ultima Handicap Chase is the first handicap of the week at the Cheltenham festival and is a typically competitive affair with plenty of runners. Horses at the front end of the market have been profitable to follow in recent years and, since 2015, had we simply backed all runners in the top five in the betting we’d have found seven of the eight winners (from 42 qualifiers) and made a profit of £25.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. Sue Smith’s 28-1 shot Vintage Clouds ruined the sequence when beating the 100-30 favourite into second place two years ago but normal service was resumed last season and it’s hard to crab those at the head of the betting, especially last year’s winner CORACH RAMBLER, INTO OVERDRIVE and OSCAR ELITE, third last year in what was a very strong renewal. The best way to side with them is to sell SP OF WINNER with Spreadex.
Recommendation: Sell SP OF WINNER in Cheltenham 2.50
CHELTENHAM 5.30
It’s very hard to get away from the claims of GAILLARD DU MESNIL in the National Hunt Chase. He’s yet to finish outside the top three in any of his thirteen starts for Willie Mullins and will relish the stiffer test of stamina after finding 2m5f too sharp when third to Mighty Potter at the Dublin Racing Festival last month. However, there could be some value with the frustrating MISTER COFFEY. Nicky Henderson’s eight-year-old has finished runner-up in five of his last six starts but has plenty of ability, as he showed when second to Chambard in the Kim Muir at last year’s Festival, and the very soft going won’t harm his chances. When filtering the runners’ speed figures on genuinely deep ground (according to Proform’s going ratings) he comes out second best on a figure of 78, just 1pt behind the favourite. He should be spot-on after a solid second to Guetapan Collonges at Uttoxeter in last month. Spread punters might want to buy the Spreadex ‘RACE MULTI-MULES’ index. This multiplies the racecard number of the winner by that of the runner-up and will make up at 32 if Gaillard Du Mesnil and Mister Coffey finished one-two as expected. Fixed odds punters may prefer to play in the forecast or in the ‘without the favourite’ market.
Recommendation: Buy MULTI-MULES in Cheltenham 5.30
