I’ve already bet course expert VOLCANO, four from four at Warwick in Class 3 or lower company, in this 3m5f handicap chase but I also want to side with SAMUEL JACKSON for in-form Richard Mitford-Slade. Unsurprisingly, being a son of Alflora, he needs soft ground and was scratched from his intended start in the Devon National last month – a race he’d won the previous season – as good ground was deemed too fast. He takes a few runs to get fit and was kept ticking over with a spin over hurdles which resulted in a 40-1 third early last month.
