It’s a case of ‘spot the runner’ at the two British race meetings today, especially at Newbury where unseasonably fast ground has decimated the fields. Punchestown’s card looks far more interesting from a punting perspective and the progressive BLUEBELL DIVA could be worth a bet in the 2m7.5f handicap hurdle at 3.45. The Mouse Morris-trained six-year-old ran a huge race in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail at Limerick on November 22nd, finishing second at 20-1 despite racing on what was clearly the slowest part of the track. She’s started as favourite in her three subsequent outings, finishing a half-length third over 2m3f at Limerick in between wins at Clonmel (2m, soft/heavy) and Gowran Park (2m4.5f, soft/heavy). Today’s ground – described as ‘yielding to soft’ – should be slow enough for her and the step up to this extended 2m7f trip could bring about further improvement. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
