SANDOWN 1.40
GREANETEEN was beaten by 34 lengths when third in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham last month but will be happier now returned to a right-handed track for the Grade 1 Celebration Chase, a race he has won in each of the past two seasons. His full record when switching from a left-handed to a right-handed track reads 1111 (4-4) and, even with JONBON in opposition, he looks worth a buy at 24 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Back GREANTEEN in Sandown 1.40
SANDOWN 2.15
I’m not convinced by the claims of those at the head of the betting for the bet365 Gold Cup and a buy of SP OF WINNER at 11.5 with Spreadex is the recommendation. Market leader KITTY’S LIGHT is well in after last week’s Scottish National victory but his patient running style is not ideal for Sandown and he was only third when favourite for this race 12 months ago. Second favourite REVELS HILL is another likely to be ridden patiently while 8-1 third-in ENRILO was pulled up in this race last year and has shown little in three starts since a wind operation.
Recommendation: Buy SP OF WINNER in Sandown 2.15
RIPON 4.10
The Richard Fahey-trained VINTAGE CLARETS has had 13 runs in Class 2 or 2 company and has lost them all, recording form figures of 3686905000292 (0-13). He’s trading as the 5-2 favourite for this 5f Class 2 handicap on the strength of his last-time-out Musselburgh runner-up effort, but he looked flattered from a favourable high draw that day and can be opposed. Sell at 17 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might want to side with LAST CRUSADE, a 9-1 shot with Spreadex.
Recommendation: Oppose VINTAGE CLARETS in Ripon 4.10
