Spreadex offers both normal fixed odds betting plus spread betting on horse racing. There are some key differences between this form of gambling and placing regular fixed odds bets. Get the calls right and punters could win big, but the potential to lose money can be much higher. Intrigued? Then check out this how to spread bet on horse racing guide:
Andrew heads to the all-weather action at Southwell and Newcastle for his two recommended bets/trades on Friday, January 20th. Follow his tips on horse racing betting sites throughout the year.

SOUTHWELL 2.50
REGAL EMPIRE, backed from 16-1 into 12-1 when making his racecourse debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month, could never get involved from off the pace and came home 20 lengths behind the winner in ninth place. However, James Tate’s newcomers usually improve considerably for the run, especially 3yos owned by Saeed Manana. Tate has scored with 25 of the 102 qualifiers and 40 of the beaten horses finished second or third, often at big prices. REGAL EMPIRE should know a lot more today and looks very interesting as an alternative to the odds-on favourite with in-form Rossa Ryan taking over from Tom Queally. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back each-way in the fixed odds betting.
Recommendation: back REGAL EMPIRE in Southwell 2.50
NEWCASTLE 5.15
MEGAN MOON doesn’t look entirely straightforward and could be worth opposing in this 5f handicap. Roger Varian’s filly was hooded for her debut when a slowly-away fourth at Southwell in October and again missed the break when a keen-going second at Newcastle next time (6-5f). The hood was removed for her third start – at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day – but she took a backwards step, running a three-length third of six after yet another slow start (11-8f). With the headwind forecast to drop to nothing but a gentle breeze by the time of this race, she might find it hard to gain ground on the front-runners. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might wish to side with pace angle GLORIOUS ANGEL.
Recommendation: Oppose MEGAN MOON in Newcastle 5.15
