Andrew starts the weekend with five stats-based selections at Sandown, Wolverhampton and Chelmsford on Saturday, March 9th. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below..
SANDOWN 3.00
BELLAS BRIDGE (system – Jamie Snowden, third run in a bumper 7 Jamie Snowden, last-time out winners, second run after a wind operation)
Jamie Snowden has a solid record with horses having their third run in a national hunt flat race, scoring with 13 of the 47 qualifiers (27.7% strike-rate) for a profit of ÂŁ14.93. BELLAS BRIDGE won well at Ludlow on her first run after wind surgery and her trainer has a five from 11 record with last-time-out winners on their second start back after a wind operation.
WOLVERHAMPTON 3.15
RAINBOW FIRE (system – Marco Botti, turf to Tapeta switchers)
Marco Botti has a great record with his turf to Tapeta switchers, including a 56 from 256 (21.9% strike-rate) here at Wolverhampton for a profit of ÂŁ68.97 to the usual ÂŁ1 stake (expected winners = 38.45, A/E = 1.46). RAINBOW FIRE , seventh at Ascot in mid-August when we last saw him, placed in all three starts on Polytrack and the switch to Tapeta for the first time could bring about improvement.
CHELMSFORD 6.30
TENET (system – Jamie Osborne, handicap debutants)
Jamie Osborne has short-priced favourite TEN O’CLOCK in this 5f Class 6 handicap but its stablemate TENET that I’m more interested in. Since the beginning of 2017, backing Osborne’s handicap debutants would have found 24 winners from 177 bets (13.6%) for a huge profit of £134.10 to a £1 level stake at SP and the son of Soldier’s Call is worth chancing to small stakes.
WOLVERHAMPTON 6.40
CON TE PARTIRO (system – Time Test, Tapeta, 1m+)
CON TE PARTIRO improved for gelding/first-time cheekpieces when scoring at Kempton on his handicap debut last month and his breeding suggests that there could be even more to come now that he’s switched to Tapeta for the first time. Progeny of his sire Time Test have a good record over 1m or further on Tapeta, landing 14 of their 88 starts for a profit of £226.72 to a £1 level stake at SP.
CHELMSFORD 8.30
CONQUEST OF POWER (system – Cityscape, Chelmsford 7f-1m handicaps)
Progeny of the sire Cityscape have a nine from 37 record in handicaps of 7f-1m at Chelmsford and backing them blind would have returned a profit of ÂŁ92.08 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. CONQUEST OF POWER, one of two qualifiers in this 7f contest (the other is CITY CYCLONE), contributed with a 100-30 course and distance win in January, and will appreciate the return to this venue after his runner-up effort at Lingfield last time.
