THIRSK 2.00
THANKUAPPRECIATEIT (system – Fountain Of Youth, turf, very recent run)
Progeny of the sire Fountain Of Youth prefer turf to the all-weather and they also have a fine record when returned to the track quickly (15 days or sooner). Combining these two angles would have seen us back 29 winners from 173 bets for a huge profit of ÂŁ310.75 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. THANKYOUAPPRECIATEIT fared best of those ridden patiently when third at Nottingham ten days ago and can go two places better.
BANGOR 2.15
ICEMAN DENNIS (system – Donald McCain, handicap hurdles at Bangor, recent run)
Since the beginning of 2011, Donald McCain is 43 from 128 (33.6%) with his handicap hurdlers at Bangor who last ran between one and 28 days ago. Backing them blind would have returned a profit of ÂŁ139.66 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. ICEMAN DENNIS fell here last time but could be worth chancing at a big price (14-1 at the time of writing).
NEWBURY 3.15
JIMI HENDRIX (system – Ralph Beckett, first-time blinkers)
Since the start of 2016, Ralph Beckett has a 23 from 103 record with handicappers in first-time blinkers and backing them all would have returned a profit of ÂŁ85.23 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. JIMI HENDRIX, not best drawn when mid-division in the Lincoln on his reappearance and first start since gelded, could benefit from the headgear in the Spring Cup. Twelve of those first-time blinkered Beckett handicappers were having their second start after being gelded and five won for a profit of ÂŁ37.00.
AYR 3.35
KITTY’S LIGHT (system – Christian Williams, long travellers)
Christian Williams’ long travellers have a fine record and, since 2019, has we backed those who travelled more than 250 miles to the races would have found 33 winners from 119 bets 27.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £16.27 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who started as favourite were 20 from 48 (41.7%) for a profit of £16.02. KITTY’S LIGHT, runner-up in this race last year, was vying for favouritism at the time of writing and can go one better.
NOTTINGHAM 6.30
GEMINI STAR (system – Alice Haynes, handicap debut)
Trainer Alice Haynes has an eight from 35 record with her handicap debutants for a profit of ÂŁ75.88 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. GEMINI STAR, winner of a soft-ground 5f maiden at Thirsk last time, can follow up on her handicap debut.
NOTTINGHAM 7.30
HIDDEN STORY (system – Charlie Appleby, gelded 3yo newcomers on turf)
In the past five seasons, Charlie Appleby is nine from 27 with gelded three-year-old newcomers on turf for a profit of ÂŁ26.27 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. HIDDDEN STORY cost 550,000gns as a yearling and can make a winning start to his career.
