END RESULT (system – Jane Chapple-Hyam, second run for yard, handicaps)
Jane Chapple-Hyam has a useful record with handicappers on their second start for her yard, scoring with ten of the 38 qualifiers since 2017 for a profit of £64.28 to the usual £1 stake. END RESULT finished well beaten on his stable debut at Haydock last month but that was his first outing for 12 months and he hood, worn for the first time that day, is left off this time.

ART OF ILLUSION (system – chase debutants, top weight in handicaps)
It often pays to sit up and take notice when a chase debutant goes straight into handicap company under top weight, rather than run in a beginners or novice contest. This angle is especially effective early season in Class 4 or lower contests with horses aged six or younger. Warren Greatrex has scored with two of his last three runners under these conditions (15-2 and 4-1) and it might be worth chancing ART OF ILLUSION to upset short-priced favourite Blade Runner.

BRAZEN DIAMOND (system – Brazen Beau, Tapeta)
Since the start of last year, progeny of the sire Brazen Beau have a 30 from 176 record on the Tapeta surfaces at Newcastle or Wolverhampton for a profit of £36.83 to a £1 level stake at SP. The are also showing a profit on the new Tapeta surface at Southwell but from a much small sample (three from 29, +£75.00). BRAZEN DIAMOND, narrowly beaten into second over course and distance last time, can go one better.
