Since the beginning of 2010, backing all Sandy Thomson-trained runners between November 1st and the end of February would have found 100 winners from 554 runners (18.1% strike-rate) for a huge profit of £227.01 to a £1 level stake at SP. LEADING FORCE, the in-form yard’s only runner today, is taken to make a successful switch from point-to-point company.

FERENSBY (system – Richard Hannon, second-time out 2yos, beaten when fancied on debut)
Richard Hannon-trained juveniles, beaten when starting as favourite or second favourite on their racecourse debuts, often make good bets at the second time of asking. Since the beginning of 2015, 41 of the 144 qualifiers won for a profit of £56.39 (expected winners = 32.64). FERENSBY could only finish eighth of 13 when the 9-4 favourite for a soft-ground Newmarket maiden last month but this switch to the all-weather could help and she’s worth a small interest despite her wide draw.

OH HERBERTS REIGN (system – Richard Hannon, second run since gelded)
Richard Hannon has a fine recent record with runners having their second start after being gelded, scoring with 22 of the 92 qualifiers since 2018 for a profit of £57.20. OH HERBERTS REIGN ran respectably in fourth at Newmarket last time and looks worth chancing to small stakes on his all-weather debut.
