KODEBREAKER (system – inside draw)
KODEBREAKER is a bit of an oddball and only seems to perform when drawn close to the comfort of the inside rail. He’s won three of his eight starts when drawn in stall 1 (+£12.50 to a £1 level stake at SP) but is zero from 45 when berthed in stall 2 or higher. He has form on straight turf tracks, scoring from stall 1 over 7f at Redcar in the corresponding week in 2022, and could go well under Silvestre De Sousa, on board for the first time.
YARMOUTH 4.20
SHAKEELA (system – Night Of Thunder, good to soft or softer, filles/mares)
Progeny of the sure Night Of Thunder do extremely well on good to soft or softer going (based on race times, not the official going verdict), landing 91 of their 480 starts (19%) for a profit of £86.10. The fillies/mares were 50 from 226 (22.1%) for a profit of £127.92. Roger Varian’s SHAKEELA has been campaigned on the all-weather since a respectable soft-ground sixth of 11 at Doncaster on her debut last autumn and can take a step forward now returned to slow turf.
CARTMEL 5.15
VINTAGE FIZZ (system – course direction)
VINTAGE FIZZ struggles when racing right-handed, recording form figures of 6P6 (0-3) but is four from 16 on left-handed tracks (+£5.38 to a £1 stake), improving to four from 11 in handicaps over jumps (+£10.38). Jedd O’Keeffe’s seven-year-old finished a close-up third over course and distance in novice company at this time last year and has been freshened up since disappointing at Doncaster in December.
