LINGFIELD 1.50
COUNSEL (system – Mick Appleby, stable switchers)
Mick Appleby has a 99 from 569 record (17.4% strike-rate) at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards for a profit of £312.27 to a £1 level stake at SP. COUNSEL, one of two qualifiers today (the other is CAPTAIN SQUARE in the 2.30), finished a 15-2 second of three in a Leicester seller for Ian Williams last time and could go well for new connections. Stable switchers that Appleby acquired from a seller are six from 32 for a profit of £37.50.
PUNCHESTOWN 3.25
NO FUSSING (system – Fame And Glory, 8yo+)
Progeny of Fame And Glory need time and those aged eight, nine and ten (the sire’s oldest crop) show a profit over jumps, with a combined score of 65 of 495 (13.1%) for a profit of £118.21 to a £1 level stake at SP. NO FUSSING finished a respectable sixth of 22 in a similar race over course and distance last time and should be thereabouts once more.
WOLVERHAMPTON 8.00
LOUISIANA BAY (system – Jack Jones, Class 6 all-weather races)
Jack Jones has a great record in Class 6 all-weather contests, scoring with 19 of the 65 qualifiers (29.2% strike-rate) for a profit of £57.48 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 10.11, A/E = 1.88). LOUISIANA BAY has finished runner-up in both starts since stepped up to tonight’s 1m4f trip and can get off the mark.
WOLVERHAMPTON 8.30
PINK JAZZ (system – time of year)
PINK JAZZ tends to pop up at least once at this time of year, usually when well backed. Punted overnight from 15-2 into 9-2, John Butler’s seven-year-old has form figures in December/January of 710118106964 (4-12). Last winter, his win came outside of this period, but only just (February 4th).
