ROYLE STEEL caused an 80-1 upset in a Sedgefield maiden hurdle at about this time last year and would have needed December’s comeback run when fifth at Market Rasen. He can double his career tally today.

The inside of the all-weather track is not always the place to be at Kempton and there have been plenty of occasions in the past couple of years when those drawn very low have been at a big disadvantage. Horses who win handicaps from stalls 1 or 2 often make good bets next time and, since the beginning of October 2021, simply backing them on their next start would have found 28 winners from 95 bets (29.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £53.66 to a £1 level stake at SP. DARK TROOPER is two from two since gelded, with the latest success from stall 2 at Kempton.
