UTTOXETER 1.20

CHIC AVENUE (system – Pam Sly no headgear, wore headgear last time out)

Pam Sly has a great record when taking headgear off her runners, especially with chasers and hurdlers. Those who go without headgear, having worn some form of it last time out, are eight from 24 for a profit of £62.75 to a £1 level stake at SP.

CHIC AVENUE was well beaten in a first-time hood at Huntingdon on her final start last term but went close on her seasonal bow and first-time out could when to catch her. The headgear is left off for her hurdles debut and she’s worth a speculative interest at a big price.

NEWMARKET 5.00

NEWTON JACK (system – Fast Company, good to soft or softer going)

Backing all progeny of the sire Fast Company on officially good to soft or softer going on the Flat shows a profit and the Stuart Kittow-trained NEWTON JACK looks worth an each-way interest after his best-of-the-prominent-racers third in a 1m Yarmouth handicap last time. Straight tracks clearly suit and he’s 7lb lower than when beaten by under two lengths into fourth in this race last year.

DUNDALK 6.30

NEL (system – Churchill, second-time out, top four finish on debut)

Progeny of the sire Churchill have a modest record on their racecourse debuts but those that finish in the top four often make good bets at the next time of asking, landing 18 of their 114 starts for a profit of £38.92 to a £1 level stake at SP. The Ger Lyons-trained NEL was very green when beaten less than two lengths into fourth at Bellewstown last month and can go three places better.
