Andrew heads to Chepstow (jumps) and Newcastle (all-weather) for three picks on Friday, February 3rd. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
CHEPSTOW 2.00
SEVEN NO TRUMPS (system – Milan, first run after a wind operation)
Progeny of the sire Milan have a 21 from 105 record on their first start back following a wind operation and backing them blind would have returned a profit of ÂŁ118.38 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. Dan Skelton is two from seven on this angle (with three of the five beaten horses in the frame) and perhaps his SEVEN NO TRUMPS can bounce back after pulling up at Exeter in November on his latest outing.
CHEPSTOW 3.30
MAX DYNAMO (system – Midnight Legend chasers, February to June)
Progeny of the sire Midnight Legend have a great record over fences, especially around springtime. Had we simply bet all of the sire’s chase runners from February to June we’d have won 237 of our 1317 bets (18% strike-rate) and made a profit of £237.07 to a £1 level stake at SP (+17.9% on turnover). MAX DYNAMO has been off the track for 288 days but won after a similar absence at about this time last year and looks good value at around the 14-1 mark.
NEWCASTLE 7.45
TATHMEEN (system – Newcastle straight track, jockeys angle)
Patient tactics and getting cover from the headwind is usually what’s required in big-field handicaps on the straight course at Newcastle and two jockeys have stood out this winter – Andrew Mullen and James Sullivan. Mullen has won on eight of his 26 mounts in handicaps of 10+ runners over the 5f-1m trips here since the beginning of October for a profit of £63.50, while Sullivan is five from 24 (£30.75). Mullen is not in action tonight but Sullivan rides Mutabaahy in the 7.15 and TATHMEEN in this 6f handicap. Antony Brittain’s veteran looks well drawn in stall 8 and fared best of the hold-up horses when a close-up 12-1 third at Southwell last week.
