SOUTHWELL 1.25
ARLECCHINO’S GIFT (system – Mark Usher, apprentice handicaps)
Mark Usher has a good record in races confined to apprentice jockeys, scoring with 14 of the 110 runners since the beginning of 2016 for a profit of £57.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. ARLECCHINO’S GIFT hasn’t progressed since his turf win at Lingfield back in May but he probably needed a break after a busy year and didn’t shape badly on his return from 75 days off the track when going down by just over four lengths at Wolverhampton in mid-October. He’s got a good strike-rate (3-13) in Class 6 company and is worth a speculative each-way interest at around the 25-1 mark.
SOUTHWELL 3.10
ZEALOT (system – Mick Appleby, stable switchers)
Mick Appleby often strikes at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 89 of the 512 qualifiers (17.3% strike-rate) since 2010 for a huge profit of £301.42 to a £1 level stake at SP. He had a Southwell winner on this angle with Blind Beggar yesterday and perhaps ZEALOT can follow suit.
DUNDALK 7.30
KAMPALA BEACH (system – Belardo, 3yo+, 1m+, Flat)
Progeny of the sire Belardo tend to improve once they hit the age of three and they also appreciate a trip of 1m or further when running on the Flat. Backing all those aged three plus, over 1m or further, on turf or the all-weather, would have found 62 winners from 375 runners (16.5%) for a profit of £99.14. KAMPALA BEACH didn’t have the race run to suit when third over course and distance last time and can go two places better.
