The nominees for the 2023/24 Premier League Young Player of the Season award have been officially announced.
Among the standout contenders vying for this prestigious accolade are Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka, and Cole Palmer, reflecting the exceptional talent that has graced the league this season.
Manchester City’s Haaland headlines the list of nominees. The Norwegian striker has scored 25 goals in the league with two games still to go.
Joining him from Man City is FWA Footballer of the Year Phil Foden, whose goals and creativity this season have made him a key asset for his team.
Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and William Saliba have also captured the spotlight with their stellar performances. Saliba has played every game at the heart of the Arsenal defence, which has racked up the most clean sheets in the division, while Saka’s 25 goal involvements have been instrumental in Arsenal’s title-chasing campaign.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is one of the frontrunners for the award, having notched 21 goals in his debut season in West London. Only Haaland has scored more league goals than the 22-year-old.
Alexander Isak emerges as another formidable contender, having enjoyed a prolific season with Newcastle United. The 24-year-old has 20 goals to his name, having made just 24 starts in the league.
Completing the list of nominees are Kobbie Mainoo (19) from Manchester United and Destiny Udogie (21) from Tottenham.
Mainoo’s effortless presence in midfield and Udogie’s dynamism and tenacity on the field have not gone unnoticed, cementing their positions as standout young players in the league.
