The January transfer window is almost here which means one thing, Premier League teams can start signing players again. One club who is expected to be very active in the opening month of 2024 is Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lilywhites have recovered well after a recent bleep in form, and overall, have made an excellent start to life under the Australian manager. Postecoglou has seen his side entertain a number of injuries and suspensions and he will be keen to get some much needed reinforcements in.

Tottenham’s January transfer target rumours have certainly ramped up over the festive period as they try to keep up with their pursuit for a European finish in 2023/24. Here at SportsLens, we take a closer look at who Spurs could sign in the transfer window.

Spurs January Transfer Targets

The Latest Tottenham Hotspur transfer news suggests they are likely to focus on signings in defence, midfield and attack. Starting with the backine, the Spurs transfer rumour mill indicates they will look at deals for two Premier League stars – Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton.

Both players would cost hefty sums and with prices often inflated in the January transfer window, it’ll be touch and go if the north Londoners are willing to fork out the cash in the middle of the season. However, both players would make excellent additions to the squad.

Tottenham’s transfer rumours also extend to another pair of defenders, Koki Machida of Union Saint-Gilloise and Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice. Machida is a Japenese international and Todibo has represented 2022 FIFA World Cup runners-up France on two occasions.

Similar to Guehi and Branthwaite, both defenders wouldn’t come cheap but boss Ange Postecoglou views Machida as a like-for-like replacement for the injured Micky van de Ven. The 26-year-old is a left-footed centre-back and after his impressive performances in the UEFA Europa League this season, the Aussie manager could pursue him more so than Todibo.

Tottenham’s transfer targets has also seen them linked with Manchester City‘s Kalvin Phillips – who will be very much in demand – Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Wilfried Gnonto of Championship side Leeds United. Phillips and Gallagher would boost Spurs’ midfield options and Gnonto give a fresh new outlet in attack.
