Reading boss Paul Ince shared his thoughts on Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United, as the 55-year-old prepares to take on his former club at Old Trafford.

Ince will be hoping to pull off a major upset against his former employers on Saturday, as his Reading side travel to Manchester to face United in the FA Cup.

The Royals come into this one in 14th place in the Championship table, having won just one of their last five fixtures.

Manchester United on the other hand, are fourth in the Premier League table, and have won eight of their ten matches since returning after the World Cup.

In his pre-match press conference, Ince was asked: “Have you met Erik ten Hag at all?”

To which he responded: “No, he’s not met me yet.”

The press room, unsurprisingly, sounded out with laughter, with the former midfielder leaving the journalists in stitches.

Ince also shared his thoughts on the influence the Dutchman has had since his arrival at Utd in the summer. He claims that the standards have been raised at the club.

“Moyes never really had a chance and with van Gaal and Mourinho – you expected them to close the gap on Liverpool and City,”

The former England international continued: “But now, looking at Ten Hag, it’s great. They’re not there yet but at least the fans can see there’s a future going forward.

“It looks like Ten Hag has raised the standards there. He’s brought in the right players and I feel like he’s getting there.

“They’re gelling well. It’s important to have stability, you can’t keep chopping and changing managers.”

According to FA Cup betting sites, Manchester United are priced at around 2/15 to win, with a Reading victory priced at around 16/1.
