Crystal Palace have parted ways with their manager, Patrick Vieira, after a run of 12 games without a win. It’s a run that’s dragged them into the relegation battle this season.
Crystal Palace are yet to win in 2023, leading to the end of their relationship with Vieira.
Speaking about the decision to sack Vieira, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said:
“It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made,
“Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status.
“Patrick has given his all to the club, and we all thank him and his team for their service.”
The results under Vieira of late have left the club in a tricky situation as the season nears its final stage. They’re 12th in the table but are only three points above 18th-placed Bournemouth, who have a game in hand.

Vieira was liked by the majority of the fan base at Crystal Palace. He was appointed before the start of the 2021/22 season and led the Eagles to a 12th-placed finish. Vieira earned praise for an attacking style, utilising Palace’s young attacking players such as Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise.
Despite a good first season, Vieira struggled to get the same attacking style going again this season. This season they have scored just 21 goals in 27 games, only Wolves, Everton and Southampton have fewer.
Crystal Palace do have the advantage of facing all eight of their relegation rivals in their final ten games. Whoever comes in at Selhurst Park will need to hit the ground running.
