Notts County have been priced as favourites to beat Chesterfield in the National League play-off final and seal promotion to the English Football League.

In a day of National League play-offs, Notts County edged past Boreham Wood and Chesterfield beat Bromley in two mouthwatering semi-finals which both went to extra time and finished 3-2.

County were up against it after going two goals down at home, before right-back Aden Baldwin grabbed one back after the second half interval and netted a 96th minute equaliser to save the season.

Jodi Jones scored an injury time winner in the 120th minute to send County to Wembley who will aim to gain promotion back to League Two after relegation in 2019.

Chesterfield defeated Bromley 3-2 in extra time with Liam Mandeville the hero 11 minutes into the first half, offering the Spireites the chance to make it out of non-league football.

National League Play-Off Final Odds

  • Notts County @ 4/8
  • Chesterfield @ 13/8

Chesterfield and Notts County will lock horns in one week at Wembley Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3:30pm on Saturday, May 13.

The two meetings between the pair this season resulted in a 2-2 draw and a 2-1 win for Notts County in February.

The final league table had Notts County in second with 107 points behind winners Wrexham and Chesterfield in third, 23 points adrift next Sunday’s opponents.

Chesterfield were relegated from League Two in April 2018, one season before County. These two have been dominant forces in the recent history of England’s fifth tier.

Both clubs are deserving of promotion and have had fantastic success, but Notts County will feel harder done by if they can’t get over the line and seal their return to League Two.
